La BOTTEGA Nicastro offers dinners, cooking and wine tasting classes with various guest chefs and wine experts throughout the season.
La Scuola BOTTEGA is going virtual with online Cooking and Wine Classes. Join our food and wine experts live from the comfort of your own kitchen for fun, hands-on classes. Order our class box with all you need for the evening or get the ingredients and follow along.
All classes are Italian food and wine focused unless otherwise noted. We also offer private customized cooking classes and wine tastings for corporate groups and special events, please contact us for further information at events@labottega.ca
Classes & Dinners are held at our store in the Byward Market at 64 George Street.

Cooking Classes & Dinners
Each class is roughly 18 people in size, with 4 seats at the bar and around 14 at a communal table. In the cooking classes there are at least 3 courses demonstrated and eaten - an appetizer, a main course, and a dessert. Two glasses of wine are included unless otherwise noted. Dinners are communal seating with premium wine pairings.
All classes and dinner are demonstration. Classes and Dinners begin at 6:00 pm unless otherwise stated.

Virtual Cooking Classes
Italian Antipasto 101 + Italian Sparkling Wine
How to assemble the perfect Italian cured meat, cheese and vegetable board. What meats and cheese to include, regions they are from. Will be paired with two sparkling wines - Prosecco and Franciacorta.

A classic from Bologna. Tomato or no tomato is always the debate! Paired with unique Sangiovese from Emilia Romagna.

Comfort food central with gnocchi. These light pillowy dumplings are simple and fun to make. Paired with Chianti Classico.

Two classics that have become synonymous with red checker table cloths all over North America. Paired with two Italian white wines.

Learn the secrets of the perfect risotto. From the rice, to the broth. Make it a weeknight meal or turn into something luxurious. Featuring a seasonal risotto and shrimp saffron risotto. Paired with real deal Pinot Grigio.

Learn to make classic biscotti (+ some modifications) and classic tiramisu. Paired with Vin Santo.

Virtual Wine Classes
Wine Classes are led by a La BOTTEGA Wine Expert - includes 5 wines with 5 antipasti. Each class is roughly 12 people in size unless otherwise indicated.
Classes run from 6:00-7:30pm.
THURSDAY March 26 - INTRODUCTION TO FRENCH WINE & CHEESE (cancelled)
One of the greatest gourmet pleasures of life is French wine & cheese. In this class we travel across the Italian border to France where Sommelier Alex Craig will cover the basics of the major wine producing areas and grape varietals paired with regional French cheeses.
$60 per person
THURSDAY April 2 - OLD SCHOOL ITALIAN from the CELLAR (cancelled)
Like to collect and age wines? Start with Italy. It is one of the only international wine regions that make wine of impeccable quality under strict appellation law. Italian wines are made from varieties not often seen outside its borders. These wines can age — sometimes up to 70 years — and evolve with time. Sommelier Alex Craig will share some Italian wines that have stood the test of time and share some advice on how to start building an age-worthy cellar collection. All wines will be paired with Italian salumi and cheese.

THURSDAY April 9 - INTRODUCTION TO SPANISH WINE & CHEESE (cancelled)
LFrom refreshing Cava produced near Barcelona to hearty Tempranillo in the heart of Rioja; Spanish wine has undergone a wine revolution over the last twenty years and is now producing a diverse range of brilliant red, white and rosé wines. In this class to Sommelier Alex Craig will cover the basics of the major wine producing areas and grape varietals paired with regional Spanish cheese...and maybe a little jamon.

Cooking Classes & Wine Tastings - Terms & Conditions - Due to small class size and popularity we do have certain terms and conditions that apply to our La Scuola Bottega classes. All prices are per person. Full payment must be made upon booking. All classes are non-refundable and non-transferable to another date. If you are unable to attend you can send someone in your spot. Cooking and Wine class gift certificates are issued by email only.
